Amazon: Black Friday Sale
Amazon is having flash sales for their games for this year's Black Friday Sale. Sure you avoid the physical lines in retail stores, but you'll have to fight the internet speed and refresh rate to nab some of the offers as some are in high demand. DmC: Devil May Cry might have gotten a lot of critical reviews from the community, but that didn't stop it from being in high demand as it sold out this morning in just a manner of minutes of the flash sale starting. Check the day and time the sales start and start refreshing the page for that specific game and you'll see a "Flash Sale" button on the right of the page. As long as you claim a copy before they're sold out, you're guaranteed to receive it as long as you buy it within 15 minutes of claiming it. Keep in mind that Free Shipping is for a purchase of $35 or more instead of the usual $25. I'm not certain if this is permanent or if it's just for the holidays, but remember this when checking out and looking for free shipping with the product. Good luck and Happy Sales to you all!

NewNews - Buy 2 Get 1 Free Deals (2013)
Every year for the past 2 or so years (maybe more, not sure), Target has had a "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" Deal for videogames right around Thanksgiving time. It's back again and it's a great deal for those buying the new Playstation 4 and Xbox One since all games count for the deal and people can grab 3 games for $120 instead of $180. Amazon is having a similar sale for Playstation 4 games on their site. For those not buying games for the new console, there are plenty of choices for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Wii U, 3DS, and PS Vita at Target for you to choose from.

NewNews - Amazon Sales Tax Implementation
The bill has been passed where Amazon and many other online retail stores will now be required to collect sales taxes along with the order. This is a big deal for gamers who have been saving from having no sales tax and shipping & handling charges. Adding back sales taxes counter-acts the discounts that the online store might offer which has once again made purchasing games a bit more expensive again. It might not be a big deal for those who have bought games and consoles from retail stores in the first place, but those who have been purchasing systems and games online save enough money to buy another game. There will be no doubt that Amazon and other online stores will possibly have better deals than GameStop or Best Buy. It's just that not as much money can be save anymore. Now we have to be weary about digital distributors as well. Can you imagine paying sales tax for services like Steam?
In any case, Amazon and other online stores will begin charging sales taxes on orders starting September 15th, 2012. Goodbye masterful savings...

VGCulture - Amazon Gold Box Sale

With the close of the Steam Summer Sale, there seems to be another sale coming up soon on Amazon.com for its videogames section. Amazon periodically has special sales of videogames. The thing is that it also lists games held by other stores listed on their site and so the prices fluctuates quite severely sometimes (bought a game for $54 after an entire year of waiting for a price drop and ended up having it drop down to $22 a few weeks after I bought it). Still, Amazon itself (not the other suppliers and stores, but Amazon specifically), provides great services and incredible deals for games all year round for those still wanting to buy retail (there's also great digital sales as well now). You'll get a copy of a game that wasn't touched by hundreds of people, or have a sticker on the box, and you'll sometimes get a much better offer and save more than you expected. Don't get me wrong, I still go to retail stores to buy games and some of the employees will genuinely be passionate about videogames and help you with all they can; however, sometimes it's hard to beat the prices and alternatives that Amazon has to offer.
If I buy any games at a retail store, it's most likely at GameStop. I hear a lot of stories of bad experiences from GameStop (and I've had a few of my own), but I've also have had good experiences too. Possibly, the most I get out of GameStop is from having great customer services by the employees and finding obscure titles on the shelves. Other than that, I really hate the stickers that ruin the boxes (I like collecting my games, I never sell them back), having all the games opened and the boxes touched by many (though I understand the problem with theft in a videogame store), and the store always keeps the prices of used games high and new games even higher. The disadvantages of buying a game online like from Amazon is not being able to look at the box, having to wait for the delivery, and hoping that the package isn't ruined on its way to your mail. With the amount of money I save and clean condition I get from Amazon, I generally don't mind the wait (except for Diablo 3, that was the most painful wait ever).
Considering that it's a Gold Box Event, I suppose there will be a sale of a videogame merchandise each hour or each interval. My wallet isn't very happy about buying more stuff, but I'll pick something up if there's anything worthwhile.

NewNews - Crisis in the Game Industry
Playstation Network password change exploit
Playstation Network may be back up, but that doesn't mean we're entirely safe. Something that Sony overlooked that has been exploited is the ability for the hackers to change the password of our accounts even after we changed it once already. How? By entering the email and birth date of the user's account to create a new password in case the user forgot what it was. The problem is that the hackers that took the information from the PSN servers has all those information to do just that. So sites and services to do that have been temporarily taken down until another method to insure user security is taken effect.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 leak
I didn't realize what happened this past weekend was a result of leaked information about Modern Warfare 3. There was a series of very short video clips released by the publisher Activision which showed practically nothing but a few radio chatters and a night-vision look at a few cities being under attack:

What was exactly leaked? Not sure, they're trying to cover it up as best as they can right now and using the opportunity of curious eyes of the internet by the leak to create hype. I don't blame them as a leak can be very harmful to the market as it affects the faith of its consumers. There is also a lot of conflict with how Activision ousted two important members of the original Infinity Ward team and caused much ruckus among the developers. Along with the fan-boys of each side of EA games and Activision games fighting it out on the comment pages, forums and such, Activision is seen as the enemy in the industry by a lot of people. Despite that, there are those who are still hoping for the best out of Modern Warfare 3 including me and do not wish for ill-will to ruin the honesty work that the remaining members of Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games are putting into the project. There's also the speculation that this "leak" is a possible artificial hype planned by the Marketing department as they were prepared to show those few clips so quickly and readily right after the announcement of the leak.
Crysis 2 for $35 on Amazon
Speaking of Crisis, Crysis 2 is on a one-day special of $35 on Amazon right now! My friend already got it. And seeing how I'm trying to go back into Action Games and RPGs, I'm going to just borrow the game from my friend and play through singleplayer and a bit of multiplayer and move onto the next game. I have spent the majority of my college years playing nothing but First-Person Shooters and think I should try to break from it and go back to other games I have yet to finish or start. That doesn't mean I'm going to stop entirely. I still play MAG, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 & Black Ops, Battlefield Bad Company 2, and occasionally I'll go back to Team Fortress 2, but I think it's time for me to get back to playing other games other than just FPS. If you like FPS games, Crysis 2 is a game you have got to try out:
